The Clinton Hill Cooperatives

Comprised of 12 medium-rise elevator buildings set on two campuses, the Clinton Hill Cooperatives offer dynamic living spaces in one of Brooklyn's most diverse neighborhoods. Seven buildings are located on "north campus" – Clinton Avenue, between Willoughby and Myrtle. "South campus" – Clinton Avenue at Lafayette Avenue – is home to five buildings.

Studios, junior-one bedrooms, one- and two-bedroom apartments are available for purchase through both shareholder and sponsor sales.

An elected co-op board of 17 oversees operations including budgeting, maintenance and upgrading the complex. The co-op will be home to a groundbreaking energy initiative known as co-generation. This new technology will help cut living costs of co-op residents, as well as decrease pollution significantly. Other upcoming initiatives include lobby beautification and courtyard upgrades.

Clinton Hill Courtyard

Both campuses offer 24-hour security, laundry on-site, courtyard and a full maintenance staff.

Located on the border of the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhoods, residents are privy to the area's rich history, fine architecture, thriving arts community, public and private schools and colleges, renowned dining locales and much more!

About Fort Greene and Clinton Hill

The Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area lies between Flatbush Avenue and Franklin Avenue, bordered by Park Avenue to the north and Atlantic Avenue to the south. Vanderbilt Avenue divides Fort Greene to the west and Clinton Hill to the east.

Fort Greene, listed on the national and New York State Registry of Historic Places, was named for General Nathanael Greene, who aided George Washington at the Battle of Brooklyn in 1776.

Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn's very first park, offers a playground, plenty of shade, tennis courts and rolling lawns perfect for friends, families and neighbors to enjoy the city's warm weather months, and even go sledding after a snowfall! The park's main attraction, the Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument, holds remains of American soldiers who died in British captivity during the Revolutionary War. The park is also home to a new visitors' center.

Fort Greene is known for its pristine brownstone homes and tree-lined streets, as well as being a top destination for the arts; the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Music School, 651 Arts, the Mark Morris Dance Company and the MoCADA museum are all located here. Brooklyn Technical High School, one of the city's most competitive public schools, is also located in Fort Greene.

Over the last several years, Fort Greene has earned notoriety for its thriving dining scene. DeKalb Avenue, often called "Restaurant Row," is home to restaurants of many cuisines and atmospheres, and is a testament to the neighborhood's thriving diversity.

Clinton Hill is home to some of the city's most interesting architecture. Clinton and Washington Avenues, often called "Mansion Row," are lined with mansions originally built by some of the city's wealthiest residents in the late 1800s. Charles Pratt, renowned businessman and philanthropist, built homes here for himself and his sons, and later founded the Pratt Institute of art in the neighborhood – today one of the most esteemed art colleges in the country. St. Joseph's College Brooklyn Campus is also located in Clinton Hill.

Myrtle Avenue, one of the neighborhood's thriving thoroughfares, has become a NYC Business Improvement District (BID), resulting in new restaurants, shops and services.

Both neighborhoods have been home to some of the country's greatest contributors to the arts, including poets Walt Whitman and Marianne Moore, authors Richard Wright, John Steinbeck and Jhumpa Lahiri, musicians Erykah Badu and Citizen Cope and actors/directors Rosie Perez, Chris Rock, Adrian Grenier and Spike Lee, who was raised in the area and currently operates his 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks company in Fort Greene.
